These two countries are neighbors and share the same culture. But why are they big enemies? Let’s find out.
There are two big reasons why they are enemies. The first reason is history. You see, in 1927, the government of China was a democratic one. But a civil war took place, and in 1949 the government became a communist one. The democratic government fled to Taiwan and started ruling there. Since then, China has claimed Taiwan, and Taiwan has claimed China. Fun fact: the official name of Taiwan is the ‘Republic of China,’ while the official name of China is the ‘People’s Republic of China.’
The second reason is the economies of the two countries. China and Taiwan both produce computer chips. China used to create the most computer chips and sell them to everyone. But slowly, Taiwan has been taking over that market. Because of this, China considers Taiwan not only a political enemy but an economic one too.
Who knows what will happen in the future? Will China attack Taiwan? Will they reach an agreement? Only time will tell.
