The California Oak Fire is a massive, uncontained, blazing fire in Central California in Mariposa County near the city of Mariposa. Let’s check out some of the stats and facts. You can also see a gallery of pictures at the end of the article.
The Oak Fire is now the largest fire in California this year, having burned over 18,000 acres near the popular national park of Yosemite. It is 15 percent contained, and it is spreading rapidly, although fire crews have managed to slow the spread slightly. In fact, it has grown over 2000 acres already since yesterday! The massive amounts of smoke from the fire are now blowing over all the way to the Lake Tahoe area!
The fire has also burned over 60 structures and 25 homes, with over 2400 structures still in danger of it. Also, over 6000 people have been evacuated as firefighters aggressively fight the fire using bulldozers, ground crews, and aircraft.
This is a currently developing story and will be updated in the near future.
