Everyone took this long weekend as an opportunity to rest, rejuvenate, and celebrate our country's leader in the civil rights movement: Martin Luther King Jr.
On a different note, Californians have to prepare for another round of heavy rain today, as up to 3 more inches are expected, following last week's heavy rain and flooding. There are flood watches in place for over 8 million people, including the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area. This is not a storm to be taken lightly, as over 19 people have died in the past few weeks due to these severe storms, so if you are in the affected area, PREPARE NOW!
Another tidbit of sad, sad news: 68 people were killed in a Yeti Airlines plane crash in Nepal over the weekend, and 4 more are missing out of the 72 people on board. According to officials in the area, they say that this is the “worst air disaster in Nepal in over 30 years.” They are now investigating the cause of the crash after recovering the plane's black box.
Lastly, the Russo-Ukraine War continues on, and the death toll just keeps rising. Over 40 people were killed in a missile strike on an apartment building in Ukraine today, as Russia continues to target critical infrastructure in Ukraine in order to regain control of the eastern part of the country. 39 people, including 14 children, were rescued from the site of the explosion, but 46 more are still missing.
