Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Students, make sure to wish your teachers and thank them for all they have done to educate kids around the world! Now, let's get into today's news.
The MTV Movie and TV Awards have just taken place, with many popular movies and TV shows being nominated for the well-known event. Some notable wins include: Tom Cruise for "Top Gun: Maverick"- Best Performance in a Movie (he had actually pre-recorded a speech of him accepting the award while flying the exact P-51 Mustang that he flew in the movie), "Scream VI" winning Best Movie, "The Last of Us" winning Best Show, Jenna Ortega winning Best Performance in a Show for "Wednesday," and other shows that won awards included "Stranger Things" and "Wednesday."
On another note, massive wildfires are still raging across the Canadian province of Alberta, having burned almost 1 million acres so far. Hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate, and over 3% of Canada's energy production has stopped. There is no word on deaths or injuries, though, so there will be more to come on this story soon.
Lastly, 22 people are dead after a tourist boat capsized in India, and more bodies are still being found. Officials say that the boat seemed to have capsized due to overcrowding, as over 30 people were squashed onto the small double-decker boat. However, they are still investigating and discovering more information as the search for any survivors continues.
