Happy Mother's Day! Sadly, this is also the one-year anniversary of the racist Buffalo mass shooting that killed ten people and injured three others on this day last year. Now, let's get into today's news.

Cyclone Mocha has officially made landfall in western Myanmar, specifically the town of Sittwe, with sustained winds of over 155 mph. The storm has been pummeling the area all day, but there is no word on any injuries or deaths so far. Millions of people are now without power and many homes have been destroyed, but the storm is moving fast, so it will not do too much damage to any one area. The cyclone is now moving up Myanmar, and it is expected to dissipate soon in southwestern China.

On another note related to weather, quite a bit of the United States is receiving some sort of severe weather right now. The western US is experiencing a serious heat wave, with Seattle and Northern California reaching 90-92ºF (32-33ºC), Las Vegas hitting 96ºF (35.5ºC), and Phoenix, Arizona even reaching 100ºF (37.7ºC). Severe storms have just struck Texas and Oklahoma, with multiple tornadoes doing serious damage to many towns. In the southeast, heat is plaguing the region, with many cities like New Orleans, Memphis, Atlanta, and Tampa hitting temperatures in the high 80s (31-32ºC) and even 90s (32-33ºC).
