Another typhoon is hitting East Asia, just after the arrival of Super Typhoon Saola in Hong Kong. Typhoon Haikui is now bringing winds of over 120 mph and heavy rain to Taiwan as it makes landfall, with moderate storm surge as well. Work, transport, and classes have been canceled ahead of the storm, and floods are already inundating areas.. All domestic flights in Taiwan have been canceled, and over 3,000 people are under evacuation alerts. Thankfully, it will not be a threat for long- the storm will only be in Taiwan for about a day before weakening and moving into the Taiwan Strait. It will then make landfall in eastern China between the cities of Shantou and Zhangzhou before fizzling out. Meanwhile, Super Typhoon Saola is now rapidly weakening after making landfall in southern China, and it is now just bringing some heavy rain to the island of Hainan. Saola pounded Hong Kong and Macau a few days ago, but they have now reopened and the two cities are now recovering from the powerful storm.
