Green Party Primary Elections

The Green Party is a third party in the USA. They share policies with both major parties. Their headquarters are in Tacoma Park, Maryland, and they are generally seen as left-wing (which focuses on society as a whole).


The candidates for the Green Party nomination were:

  • Jill Stein (267 delegates)

  • Jasmine Sherman (13 delegates)

  • Jorge Zavala (0 delegates)

  • Emanuel Pastreich (withdrawn)

  • Cornel West (withdrawn)


Jill Stein won way more than the required 147 delegates, so she became the Green presidential nominee. She chose historian Butch Ware as her running mate.

  • February 5th: Kansas (4 delegates)

  • March 4th: Pennsylvania (14 delegates)

  • March 5th: California (59 delegates)

  • March 16th: Illinois (20 delegates)

  • March 19th: Arizona (4 delegates)

  • March 24th: Washington (4 delegates)

  • May 14th: West Virginia (4 delegates)

  • May 30th: Indiana (4 delegates)

  • June 4th: District of Columbia (5 delegates)

  • June 4th: Montana (4 delegates)


Caucuses and Convention Dates:

  • March 23rd: New York convention (14 delegates)

  • April 27th: Utah convention (4 delegates)

  • May 5th: Maine caucuses and convention (33 delegates)

  • August 11th-15th: National convention
